Issue

Integra Property Managent were tasked with developing the attractive Solomons Estate into a more functional visitor attraction. One of the developments was the Christmas attraction that included a Santa train ride through the woods and grounds. The current paths were not suitable for the wheeled train. The clients requirement was for a hard wearing, environmentally sensitive road / access route in keeping with the grounds and surroundings. The access route would also be used regularly by the estates staff work vehicles and machinery as well as pathways for the general public

Solution

SUREGREEN PP40 permeable plastic paving grids were specified as the client, the estate and the council agreed that the free draining permeable functions that the attractive gravel surface provided was ideal. Suregreen's PP40 porous pavers were laid onto a constructed aggregate sub-base and gravel bedding layer. The edges were retained by timber kerbs. The pavers cells were then filled and top dressed with the specified gravel fill,

Benefits

PP40 Porous pavers provided an attractive, heavy load-bearing surface capable of supporting the traffic, and vehicle loads that the Christmas train and estate vehicles with exert. Suregreen's porous pavers provided a contoured winding access road with a slight gradient that met the clients requirements: FREE DRAINING, ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE, HEAVY LOAD BEARING, ATTRACTIVE and PERMANENT.
